Winery Description

A New World-style winery at the heart of Hautes-Côtes de Nuits: a tremendous gamble taken by two childhood friends to create a place that is as much about passion as it is about high standards.

With charming landscapes with wood-covered hillsides, well-exposed vineyards, and bucolic pastures, the Hautes-Côtes are located in the hills overlooking the Côte de Nuits, south of Dijon. At an altitude of between 300 and 400 metres, the landscape is hilly, with a harsh climate (hot, dry summers, cold winters), which explains the courage and solidarity of its inhabitants.

Vines have been cultivated here for centuries. In the Middle Ages, Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Saint-Vivant grew the finest of wines here, undoubtedly taking advantage of the cool climate which favoured the delicate blossoming of this divine nectar.

Tasting notes

An easy-drinking wine, fresh and elegant, bursting with fruit.

• Visual: deep ruby in colour with violet highlights.
• Nose: notes of red fruits (strawberry, raspberry, cherry) that open up to toasted, vanilla notes with a slight touch of spice.
• Palate: the freshness of the Pinot Noir is expressed with finesse. Substance, roundness and full flavour characterize this generous wine with well-integrated tannins.
• The finish is long and full, with a discreet hint of oak.
• Serve at 14° - 16° C( 57°F - 61°F).

Pairing

A glass of this wine goes very well with an assortment of cheeses and/or fruit on the side.

Cellaring

Try to keep them stored in wooden wine cases, or boxes with strong cardboard, so corks are kept damp. BURGUNDY HILLS PINOT NOIR is one that may be enjoyed now or laid down for another few years. Do not keep stored for more than 5 years.

A contemporary Pinot Noir from the hills of Burgundy, this wine is a unique combination of Burgundian tradition and New World winemaking.
