Winery Description

Geographical Location
In the beautiful little provençal village of Piolenc in southern France, situated at the foot of the Massif d’Uchaux just few kilometers from Orange, this family estate covers Chateauneuf du Pape, Côtes du Rhône Villages “Massif d’Uchaux” , and Côtes du Rhône appellations as well as Vins de Pays from the principality of Orange Clairette.

History
Everything started for this vineyard around 1920 when the last namesake proprietor, Sophie SIMIAN, having no descendents of her own, decided to turn over her home to a young woman named Marcelle LADRET who worked as her loyal and devoted employee for years.
Some years later Madeleine, the daughter of the happy heir, was beginning to reach marrying age. At the same time, a short distance from there, in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape commune, a young wine-maker, Yves SERGUIER was spending the vast majority of his time passionately cultivating his vines. He had just succeeded his father Marcel who had also inherited land parcels acquired at the turn of the century by Hippolyte SERGUIER, a worker and winemaker.
Yves’ passion increased tenfold when he met Madeleine, and starting in 1955, the two moved into CHATEAU SIMIAN. In 1957, their only son Jean-Pierre was born. After receiving training at the viticultural high school of Beaune in Bourgogne, he took over the family estate and, in 1981, realized the dream of four generations of winemakers: the maturing and bottling of wine on his own estate.
